Dietetics

Qualified dieticians support local residents to make changes to their diet which may be required to address the impact that poor nutrition may have on their general health, or as a result of a diagnosis of specific health conditions such diabetes, heart disease, obesity or other chronic diseases.

Treatment includes individual clinical assessment and the development of healthy eating plans in conjunction with the consumer to meet specific health and lifestyle goals. KCHS also provides culturally relevant dietetic services for Chinese speaking consumers in the city of Knox.

Through collaborating with Whitehorse Division of General Practice, Manningham CHS, Whitehorse CHS and Migrant Information Centre, consumers with diabetes and their carers are able to access and receive culturally appropriate information from a Dietician, Diabetes Nurse Educator and GP for managing their diabetes holistically. Consumers who live outside the boundaries of the cities of Knox, Manningham and Whitehorse are also able to access this program, the first to be established in Victoria.
